Etsy Offers $5 Coupon to Cyber Monday Shoppers

Etsy is running another Etsy-funded promotion, this time offering shoppers $5 off on a minimum purchase of $30, today only. Buyers in the US, Canada, UK, and Eurozone can use the code CYBER5 to get the discount.

There’s no limit on the number of times a buyer can use the code. The 24-hour promotion ends at 11:59pm local time on November 27th – details are on the Etsy Seller Announcement board.

Etsy advised shoppers to be careful where they enter the code:

“For shoppers to receive the Etsy funded discount CYBER5, they’ll need to input the code into the Apply Etsy Coupon area and not the Apply Shop Coupon Codes area. This is because the coupon is funded by Etsy at no cost to sellers. The shop coupon area is where buyers plug in codes that have been shared specifically by sellers.”

Early in November, Etsy CEO Josh Silverman had told Wall Street investors that Etsy was experiencing an increasingly competitive retail environment with a very heavy emphasis on deep discounting.

He said a similar Etsy-funded 48-hour sale in September ($5 off $25) had worked great but that a similar sale in October ($10 off $40) didn’t work as well, pulling forward sales as much as it increased sales.

Some sellers had questions about today’s sale, discussing it on the Etsy boards in this thread.
