Kmart cops $1.3 million fine for over 200,000 spam emails

Uber fined $412,500 for liquor-delivery promotional spam

E-commerce Rideshare and food delivery company Uber Australia has paid a $412,500 fine for its violation of Australian spam laws. The firm sent over 2 million marketing emails to customers without an unsubscribe facility on a single day in January, according to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).  The emails, which were mischaracterised as non-commercial, were part of an advertising campaign for an alcohol home delivery service. Ticketek fined $500,000 for repeated breaches of spam laws

E-commerce Online ticketing company Ticketek has paid a fine worth $515,040 for sending 98,000 spam texts and emails last year, according to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Ticketek breached anti-spam laws by sending 41,000 marketing texts and emails without the consent of recipients and another 57,000 to people who had previously unsubscribed.
